Last Friday, September 27, Peacekeepers executed a search warrant at around 6:00 a.m. at a residence located on Route 207 near Rice Road. A local male, who has not been officially charged so he cannot be named publicly yet, was arrested.

“He was released on a promise to appear (PTA) and will appear in court on December 2, and he faces charges on possession of a controlled substance,” said Jody Diabo, assistant chief peacekeeper, on Thursday.

Aside from the possession charge, the 33-year-old man will also face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Diabo further said that in cases like this, the prosecutor needs irrefutable evidence, thus all the substances that were seized during the search warrant must be tested in a lab. The PTA gives the prosecution time to get the test results back and then to proceed with the charges.

PK seized a large quantity of cash, 500 plus suspected opioids; over 200 grams of suspected cocaine, over 20lbs of suspected illicit cannabis, a small quantity of edibles, vapes and drug paraphernalia, according to the press release that was sent out after the operation.

Nine officers were involved in the operation. PKs have yet to release the individual’s name.
